Alice (and Friends) vs. Jabberwock

I drew this as a "concept piece" during the development of Wonderland No More ([link]), initially just because we needed a "button/banner image" with landscape orientation on the development page.

The rough summary of the Wonderland No More setting (Savage Worlds) is that it's a fantasy world set in a Wonderland that has gone just a little bit more off-kilter since Alice's departure. Some of the player characters might be "echoes" of characters who appeared in the original stories (e.g., "Alicia Small," "The Cheshire Kit," "The Maniac Haberdasher"). And, in combat, rather peculiar weapons and equipment are in use - in this example, a live flamingo being used to lob live hedgehogs against a fearsome Jabberwock. (Don't worry! The hedgehogs are COMPLETELY unharmed by such treatment. We promise.)

Artwise, this was one of my earlier attempts to try to make drawings in some way evocative of the work of Sir John Tenniel. I didn't quite have the hatching down, so I had to resort to "fading out" certain layers to suggest depth/distance - admittedly a step away from a proper "woodcut" look.
